The Minnesota Vikings have had a great start to the 2024 season. Although they have lost two straight games, they still hold a 5-2 record. However, star left tackle Christian Darrisaw went down with a season ending injury vs the Rams last Thursday night. This has led to the Vikings making a trade for another left tackle.
Vikings Make Trade For Offensive Lineman
The Minnesota Vikings have bolstered their offensive line by trading for offensive tackle Cam Robinson from the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars received a 2026 fifth round pick that could become a fourth round pick based on playing time. Robinson brings both size and experience to the Vikings front.
The former 2017 second round pick has made 94 NFL starts including three playoff starts. Robinson has started every game he has played in for Jacksonville. With the Vikings contending for a Super Bowl and the Jaguars lackluster start to the season, this trade makes a lot of sense for both teams. Jacksonville receives a draft pick for the future, and Minnesota fills a need to keep contending for a Super Bowl.
Robinson’s Role and Fit with Minnesota
With Robinson’s addition, the Vikings address the challenge of replacing Christian Darrisaw for the season. Darrisaw has been instrumental in the team’s offense this season. He has only allowed two sacks all season. Robinson will look to continue the successful season that Darrisaw and the Vikings offense have seen thus far, specifically in pass protection.
Season Outlook
This acquisition shows the Vikings commitment to fortifying their offensive line as they continue to contend in the ultra competitive NFC North. Robinson’s presence could be pivotal in continuing to establish the run game and offering quarterback Sam Darnold the necessary protection to maintain his MVP caliber play. If Robinson meshes well, he could significantly contribute to the Vikings pursuit of a Super Bowl.
