We open up NHL predictions with the opening game of a home-and-home set between the Detroit Red Wings and the Washington Capitals. John Gibson is the confirmed starter for Detroit, which is 6-2-2 in the last 10 games. However, the team is coming off a loss to the Utah Mammoth last time out. Alex DeBrincat leads the club in goals (20) and points (19) so far this season.
Logan Thompson is the expected starter for Washington but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Capitals are also 6-2-2 in their previous 10 games, including a victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Tom Wilson is first on the team in goals (17) and points (33) so far this campaign.
Detroit is currently in first place in the Atlantic Division, but Washington is 11-5-2 at home.
