Welcome back to the return of NHL Predictions. Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head matchups and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today’s featured game is the New York Rangers vs Vancouver Canucks. Be sure to check out more NHL predictions in the coming days as the 2024-25 season continues.

NHL Predictions

Anaheim Ducks vs Chicago Blackhawks

Time: 8:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

TV: Chicago Sports Network; KCOP; ESPN+

Our opening game of NHL predictions has the Anaheim Ducks taking on the Chicago Blackhawks. John Gibson will be the likely starter with Anaheim beating the Dallas Stars, 4-2, the night before. Troy Terry leads the team in goals (6) and points (12). However, he’s tied with Mason McTavish for most assists on the club with six.

Chicago is expected to counter with Petr Mrazek in between the pipes. However, always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Blackhawks are led in goals by Ryan Donato with eight. Connor Bedard is first in assists (10) and points (13) for Chicago.

Anaheim has been playing better as of late and Gibson did well in his return. Some thought the Ducks would be a pushover. However, they’ve played decent enough.

Prediction: Ducks win 4-2.

New York Rangers vs Vancouver Canucks

Time: 10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

TV: MSG; SN Pacific; ESPN+

Our final and featured game has the Rangers visiting the Canucks. The Rangers got a shutout last time out, but it was Jonathan Quick instead of Igor Shesterkin. New York is expected to start the Russian goalie in this one. Artemi Panarin is pacing the Blueshirts in goals (10), assists (14) and points (24) so far this season.

Kevin Lankinen is the expected starter for the Canucks, who are 3-4-3 in the last 10 games. J.T. Miller is tied for the team-lead goals, but was benched in Sunday’s loss to the Nashville Predators. However, Elias Petterson has been heating up and is now tied for the first in goals with Miller. Quinn Hughes is first in points with 18.

Both teams have some good scoring talent and solid goalie play so far. However, the Rangers get the victory.

Prediction: Rangers win 3-2.

Prop Bets of the Night

We close out NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. We start with the opening game between the Ducks and Blackhawks. The over/under is a tricky number at 6.0 and the under is at -105. This number can be found at Bet365.

In the final game of the night, Adam Fox seems like a strong bet at +100 to get an assist with odds via Bet365. On the Canucks side, Miller is worth a shot to have a multiple-point night at +330. He should be motivated after being sat down during Sunday’s loss to the Predators.

Stick around for more NHL predictions in the coming days.
