NHL Predictions: Nov 21 w/ Minnesota Wild vs Edmonton Oilers

November 21, 2024 by Last Word On Hockey

NHL predictions

Welcome back to the return of NHL Predictions. Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head matchups and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today’s featured game is the Minnesota Wild vs Edmonton Oilers. Be sure to check out more NHL predictions in the coming days as the 2024-25 season continues.

NHL Predictions

Colorado Avalanche vs Washington Capitals

Head-to-Head: Avalanche 0-1 Capitals

Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

TV: Monument Sports Network; Altitude; KUSA; ESPN+

Our opening game of NHL predictions has the Colorado Avalanche visiting the Washington Capitals. Justus Annunen is the expected starter for Colorado, but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Avs have been up-and-down with a 5-5 mark in the last 10 games. Nathan MacKinnon is first assists (27) and points (34) for Colorado. However, Mikko Rantanen is tops in goals with 12.

Washington will roll with Logan Thompson in net for this game. The Capitals beat the Avalanche, 5-2, less than a week ago. However, Alex Ovechkin will be out of the lineup. Ovechkin was leading the league in goals before leaving against the Utah Hockey Club. Players like Connor McMichael have stepped up this season.

The Capitals are still a solid team, but losing Ovechkin will hurt.

Prediction: Avalanche win 4-2.

Utah Hockey Club vs Boston Bruins

Head-to-Head: Utah 1-0 Bruins

Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

TV: Utah16; NESN; ESPN+

Utah will go with Karel Vejmelka in goal as it tries to stop a two-game losing skid. The Hockey Club did beat the Boston Bruins, 2-1, in the first meeting of the season. However, Utah is 3-5-2 in the last 10 games going into this one. Dylan Guenther has slowed down after his hot start, but still leads the team in goals with seven. Clayton Keller is tops in points with 16.

This game will be the first for the Bruins since they fired Jim Montgomery and went with Joe Sacco on an interim basis. Joonas Korpisalo is the confirmed starter as Boston tries to turn things around. David Pastrnak is first on the team in goals (8), assists (9) and points (17) for the Bruins.

Expect Boston come out fired up with the new coach bounce and take this one.

Prediction: Bruins win 5-2.

Minnesota Wild vs Edmonton Oilers

Time: 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

TV: SN West; Fan Duel Sports North; Fan Duel Sports Wisconsin; ESPN+

Our final and featured game has the Wild visiting the Oilers. Filip Gustavsson is the likely starter for Minnesota in this game. The Wild have been a pleasant surprise and are 7-1-2 in the last 10 games. One thing the Wild can hang their hat on is their top scoring defence that’s only allowed 2.33 per game. Kirill Kaprizov is the team’s leader in goals (13), assists (20) and points (33).

Edmonton is projected to go with Stuart Skinner between the pipes. The Oilers are 4-5-1 in the last 10 games, but are coming off a victory. Connor McDavid is first in assist with 15, but Leon Draisaitl is tops in goals (14) and points (27).

The Oilers do have some good scorers, but the Wild have been great on the defensive end.

Prediction: Wild win 3-2.

Prop Bets of the Night

We close out NHL predictions with some prop bets. Let’s zero in on the final game for our picks. Matt Boldy is +190 at BetMGM to get a goal for Minnesota. Draisaitl is +135 to get a goal in the game as well.
