There aren’t a lot of good things to say about Wild hockey at the moment, nor is it all that much fun to talk about. After a 4-0 loss at Nashville on Thursday, they were 3-7-0.
So, after a recent Wild practice, I took a couple of minutes to chat with defenseman Matt Dumba about nothing that has anything to do with his or the team’s performance.
Is there another sport you could have played professionally other than hockey?
Which one could you have come closest in?
Probably football. but it’s just too much competition in football for a Canadian kid. I played a little bit of everything growing up. I really liked basketball, but I think height would’ve been a challenge (Dumba is listed at 6 feet).
What position would you play in football?
I think I probably would’ve been a small safety, like a free safety or a corner. Six feet, I could maybe do that. Maybe like an Ed Reed kind of guy.
If you played an entire hockey season at forward, how many goals would you score?
I don’t know. Not as many.
Not as many as you score as a defenseman (his career high is 14)?
What’s your favorite song right now?
I like “Intro” by DaBaby.
Who’s the best-dressed player in the locker room?
Zucks (Jason Zucker) has got a good suit game, but then I’d give it to Rasky or Brods for street wear.
How about the worst?
Maybe Donato, or Seeler for too much Dri-FIT.
What’s the first thing you have to do when you get home after a game?
Hang my suit. To decompress, usually, I probably just get in bed, watch whatever TV show I’m watching.
