The Seattle Kraken Will Be Without Top D-Man for One Month

December 22, 2025 by Last Word On Hockey

The Seattle Kraken have some negative news to report today, just as we hit the holiday season. But, on the flip side, maybe the time to sit back and relax with family and friends came at the right time. Defenceman Brandon Montour has a hand injury, and it required surgery. The timeline for his return is four weeks. So, throw on the Home Alone, Montour.

Seattle Kraken Defenceman Brandon Montour Hand Injury News Update

Brandon Montour is a key driver of success for the Seattle Kraken. Montour played well out of the gate this season, and to some degree, the Kraken team play followed. However, as the season went along, the story took a turn, like a Joe Pesci double-cross.

You might find it on YouTube, of being reminiscing of his Florida Panther days perhaps, he had himself in Team Canada discussion in October. Now, we will say that has long faded, but that is the level at which Brandon Montour can elevate his game. His stats remain strong, but are weighted by a group of games, in the first seven. He had three goals and five assists in those games. On the season, so in the next 20 games, he has managed three goals and five assists. More Grinch like than anything.

What Does It Mean for Montour and the Kraken

Montour has missed the last two Kraken games. The Kraken and he hope for a quick recovery, and that he can get back playing the way the Kraken need him to, and that he needs to, too, for a confidence-type feel. Another positive of the timing, Montour should be able to test it out before the break. In that way, he should be able to get proper rest and recovery on the healing hand. The Kraken are not playing well, and sit dead last , the Kraken and more like Krampus, this Christmas in the Pacific Northwest.
